Deep linking to images in other people's sites considered harmful. More ass, but of a different kind.

Apropos nothing, I wish flickr gave a bit more information about images. I've got a few with a few thousand views and I'd love to know where the hits came from.

I used to do exactly that using mod_rewrite to requests for my images being embedded in other peoples' pages and replace them with some uncomplimentary text. For over a year because of this, a Harry Potter fan site had a background image containing the text "the owner of this site likes fucking little boys".

But then even the bandwidth for those highly-compressed images became too high, so they just get a 403 Forbidden these days. Almost all of the idiots are on myspace, forum.grandprix.com and similar.
